We have been made aware of recent attempts by fraudsters to collect information from our customers by appearing to be Hometown Bank. Such attempts would include sending text messages stating that your debit card has been locked or deactivated and giving a phone number to call. When the number is called, they then ask for your debit card number, last four digits of your social security number, bank account number, etc. Hometown Bank would never attempt to contact you this way and would never ask for this type of information. This is information we already have on file. If you receive a message of this type via text or e-mail, please do not return the phone call and certainly do not give out the information.
