Walden Federal Helps Teach Children to Save

Walden, NY, September 20, 2010 -- Walden Federal has partnered with the American Bankers’ Association Education Foundation to offer a new program, Teach Children to Save. The program, offered through local schools and community programs offers children:

  • Information about the value of saving money
  • Steps to begin saving
  • How to prepare a beginners’ budget
  • Ideas about how families can work together to save

For 14 years the Teach Children to Save program has partnered with local banks to provide students with lessons on the importance of saving. The program's goal is to reach 5 million students before the end of 2011, the 15th anniversary of Teach Children to Save.

The ABA Education Foundation provides financial education resources and sponsors programs like Teach Children to Save and Get Smart About Credit that help bankers make their communities better.

Walden Federal, serving the local Orange County community for over 90 years, will work with local schools and organizations to implement the Teach Children to Save program.

At the same time, the bank now offers a new Children’s CD along with their Looney Tunes Children’s Savings account. These accounts make it fun and easy for children to save money and watch their money grow.
